Transfer window summer 2019

It certainly has been a busy summer for Brackley and unfortunately for me to focus solely on them as a club now wouldn’t be correct as a few of their young stars have gone on to new challeneges. Whether the grass is greener on the other side only time will tell. So from here on in our story will focus on the players and not a club. So lets see what the summer bought.

David Stone: So the keeper who had such a fantastic season last season was not seduced by any of the offers made for him and has decided to stick with Brackley for the time being.

Gary Hill: The left back was subject to a few offers over the summer and decided to pack his bags and leave for Lancashire signing for Blackburn Rovers for a bargain fee of £35,000. Whether he can make an impact on the first team remains to be seen.

Graeme Woodward – The highly rated right back is another who took the plunge and decided to pack his bags and head elsewhere, the bright lights of the big city were too much of a temptation when West Ham came knocking and Brackley were more than happy to recieve £235,000. Graeme may have to be patient though as Pablo Zabaleta has the right back position nailed down and present.

Jonno Woodward: The fans favourite was involved in a flurry of transfer activity over the summer with numerous clubs having bids accepted and Jonno point blank refusing them all. Charlton, Blackburn and Millwall were all turned down by the center back but it wasn’t enough to keep him at Brackley, the lure of Ipswich Town was too much and Jonno headed off to the east of England for a fee of £30,000.

Matt Sykes: Transfer activity came late for Matt but once again the temptation of a big club was too much and Sykes headed off to the capital to join Millwall for £31,000. The center back will have to win the fans over as most were unconvinced by the signing of an ameteur center back.

Olly Lyon: The center midfielder was never going to stay at Brackley long and this was case when Huddersfield Town came calling. £21,000 was exchanged and Lyon headed off to Yorkshire. His chances at the terriers maybe limited however with Isaac Hayden, Ashley Westwood and Jonathan Hogg all able to play in the holding midfield role.

Mike Clifton: Another who has decided to stay at Brackley fore the time being, Mike had plenty of interest from other clubs but with nothing solid developing he will be looking to improve on his fine start to his career last season.

Tom Hutton: Tom endured a fairly torrid time at Brackley last season only managing 10 games all season despite some pretty good stats backing it up. After rejecting contract offers from West Ham and Birmingham City it seemed like Toms ego was going to get in his way of a potential move but a few days before deadline Leicester City came forward and Tom was gone. A fee of £61,000 was agreed.

Matt Hutton: It seems as though Matt doesnt know what he wants in the future, he rejected offers from Birmingham and Wolves to stay at brackley, whether he is hoping to have another good season at Brackley and join a bigger team remains to be seen.

Jozef Fullerton: Im sure the Brackley town fans would have been hoping that their captain might have repayed the faith in making him captain but once again the lure of a bigger club was too much and Jozef travelled up to yorkshire to sign for Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of £26,500.

Luke Hutton: So the big news of the transfew windwow came when Arsenal came knocking for Brackleys hitman. Not only was it a huge club to be interested in him but they were willing to part with a huge £2,500,000 for the striker. No Brackley fan would have begrudged the youngster going and off to London he went. Getting game time might prove more difficult with Alexandre Lacazette and Aubameyang on the books at Arsenal.

So its all change for most of our players, lets see how they get on at their new clubs (or at Brackley in three cases). It may be a case of being patient or maybe they’ll take the step up in their stride. We will check back in at the end of january at the end of the winder transfer window.
